Business Problem
Our customer was recently spun-off from a healthcare company to become a fully independent organization. As a result of the significant organizational change, the Information Technology organization was facing demand for IT projects to deliver improved and new functionality for business solutions. To optimize the productivity of the IT workforce, our customer was pursuing major changes in its strategy for project management and the use of PM tools. The new management team decided to standardize using a new PM solution that heavily focused on the resource management aspects (who is available to do what and when?), instead of more widely used tools that emphasize the tasks to be done with little or no regard for available resources. To facilitate the rapid transition to this new project management paradigm and the new PM platform, our client needed multiple experienced PM's that would bring this expertise to the IT organization.

Results

Our customer was able to start leveraging the capabilities offered by the new PM platform, and create and use Work Breakdown Structures in the context of resource availability. This enabled the IT organization to improve the reliability of all IT planning efforts dramatically. For IT management, this increased their credibility with the business, and it reaped the benefits of the investment in the new PM platform.
